  • While in Krakow, Poland's main square (Rynek Glowny) I saw this tired little boy lying under the head with his heels up in the air. Hence the title. Often referred to as ‘The Head’, the bronze body part’s official title is ‘Eros Bendato’ (Eros Bound) and is the work of Polish artist Igor Mitoraj.

  • While traveling throughout southern Poland I went to this salt mine where everything you see is carved out of the salt rock. It is simply gorgeous. Wieliczka Salt Mine, located in the town of Wieliczka in southern Poland. The mine was built in the 13th century and produced table salt continuously until 2007. It was one of the world's oldest salt mines still in operation and reaches a depth of 1,073 ft and is over 178 miles long.

  • I happened to be driving in southern Poland around Niedzica when I came upon this Church. I thought it had an interesting look to it so I got out to take a shot. I then noticed a worker on the steeply pitched roof - just leaning there. It added a little more interest to the church don't you think?

  • I shot this while traveling in southern Poland. It is a beautiful setting and a famous landmark. Niedzica Castle also known as Dunajec Castle, is located in the southernmost part of Poland in Niedzica. It was erected between the years 1320 and 1326 by Kokos of Brezovica on the site of an ancient stronghold. Before the Czorsztyn reservoir was built in 1994, the castle had a very Dracula-like setting, perched high on a wall above the Dunajec River.

  • While traveling through southern Poland - I felt compelled to go to Auschwitz outside the town of Oświęcim . It is an unsettling, sickening experience walking under that sign in the knowledge that many who came here actually believed the lie that was inscribed on the sign - Arbeit Macht Frei - and then met a horrible fate. I just happened to catch this Jewish person going through the gate and it really shook me. EVERYONE needs to know about this horrible place and what went on so we can help to prevent something like this from EVER happening again.

  • Taken at Auschwitz in Poland. I was walking by when the sun was at this angle. The light and perspective give it an "X" effect. That day was warm sunny, and this place ALMOST could be any other place - with the blue sky, reddish brick wall etc.. But the picture had to be changed to black and white to keep the seriousness and tragedy and the "hell" of this place in the forefront.

  • This was the SS guard's swimming pool at Auschwitz. How can you swim and frolic while all this horror is around you?? Again because it was a pretty day - I had to change the picture to black and white.
